The Surrey, A Corinthia Hotel

I stayed in the The Surrey for a few days when visiting family. Among the 5 star hotels in the area (I have stayed at The Mark and The Carlyle), The Surrey is my favorite. The rooms are beautiful and the bathrooms luxurious. Everything is new and modern, and very tastefully designed. My room was very clean. The restaurant is another gem, with delicious breakfast (I recommend the scrambled egg and avocado toast) and lunch/dinner options. Highly recommend.

This review is solely for the Lounge. We were not hotel guests. Stopped by for glass of wine and lite bite after a day of shopping. Relaxing atmosphere, good service.

We stayed at The Surrey on September 15, 2025, with our 20-month-old daughter and had an outstanding experience from start to finish. The bellman greeted us warmly, managed traffic so we could safely unload our toddler, and handled our luggage right away. At check-in, the team was professional yet genuinely welcoming, even arranging one of our rooms early so our daughter could nap — something no other NYC hotel has done for us. A manager even brought her a Surrey-branded toy she still carries everywhere. Our room was one of the best we’ve ever stayed in across New York: stylish, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, with a beautiful bathroom and one of the most comfortable beds in the city. Housekeeping and room service were professional, prompt, and polished, on par with Corinthia London, which has always set the gold standard for us. Checkout was smooth, with valet and staff going out of their way to make things safe and easy as we loaded our daughter and luggage. The only weak spot was the on-site restaurant, Casa Tua. Service at breakfast was slow, the hostess dismissive, and small but important details like water, milk, and a highchair were delayed or forgotten. The food was fine, but not memorable. I’d recommend enjoying the hotel itself and dining elsewhere nearby. Overall, The Surrey is a rare gem in New York. The service, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality stand out in a city where many luxury hotels fall short. We will absolutely return.

A home away from home when forced by fate or circumstance to “travel south of the border”. Clearly very money-panicked, but that’s to be expected on the upper east side. At least in this 2026 economy. Friendly doormen, desk, room service staff, and drivers (thanks especially), who are the real heroes of this operation. Shower impeccable. It saves the noisy decor. Bar service is confusing, chaotic but not “bad”. Lovely restaurant for morning relaxation and work, with an always-interesting and even amusing clientele. Interior decoration is noisy and overly busy for the elegance it’s clearly trying very hard to accomplish, but I appreciate the effort put to respecting kashrus which is more important. Only real complaint is that one guy for judging people for banking slow the Canadian way. Four stars out of five.

Without a doubt, the Surrey is one of the very best hotels, not just in NYC, but the world over. Many hotels claim to offer 5-star quality, but oftentimes it’s an expensive and disappointing exaggeration. I recently enjoyed an extended stay (10 nights) and I was treated like family. I was there recovering from surgery at nearby Lennox Hill. Everyone from Jonathan (front desk), to Snezana and Rahim Abdullo, were exceptional. I want to express how grateful I am for your many kindnesses during my stay, and I hope to return soon!

I had a great stay at the Surrey. The staff were extremely accommodating and helpful, and were gracious about saving me from some totally unforced errors on my end. I look forward to staying again when I need to visit the city. It is an especially good springboard for anyone whose visit focuses on the upper east side.

Recommend staying here. Javier and Miguel are two friendly faces who greet you and took good care of us. The service was wonderful and we were treated with great care. The rooms were very clean and comfortable.
